What is The Omni Lawyer?
The Omni Lawyer is an AI legal-information website and installable web app. It helps you prepare for everyday encounters, review calm spoken scripts, and back up evidence encrypted on your device. It is not a law firm or an emergency service.
Is The Omni Lawyer a lawyer or a source of legal advice?
No. The product provides general legal information and preparation tools, not legal advice or representation. It does not create an attorney-client relationship or privilege. Seek a qualified local lawyer for advice about your circumstances.
Which countries have registered local sources?
The current starter registry includes GOV.UK police stop-and-search guidance for England and Wales and ACLU police-encounter guidance as a United States national baseline. State and local exceptions apply. Other locations and unsupported scenarios use general information, not verified local law.
Does the app listen, record or speak automatically?
No. Microphone and optional camera access require your action and browser permission. Recording controls show their status. A spoken script plays only when you choose it; local recording rules and device limitations still apply.
How is evidence protected?
Supported media is encrypted on your device with AES-256-GCM before upload. You control the recovery passphrase, and the service cannot recreate a lost key. Only confirmed cloud uploads survive device loss. AI conversations are processed server-side and are not end-to-end encrypted.
Which languages and devices are supported?
AI guidance can be requested in 24 languages. The public interface is in English. Voice input and playback depend on browser and installed device voices. The app is an installable PWA; native App Store and Google Play releases are not available.
Can I use The Omni Lawyer offline?
Public preparation pages previously cached by the production web app can be available offline. Live AI guidance, account changes and cloud backup require a connection. Background or screen-locked recording is not guaranteed.
Does a membership include a live attorney?
No. No contracted live-attorney network or representation is included. You can save your own lawyer or trusted contact and use independent legal-help directories. Membership checkout is currently sandbox-only, not live billing.
